I am not sure, what do you mean by the word "police". I will assume that you mean a column.
You have two options. You can use the setting "Width" in the table where all used columns are listed. There you can set the width in pixels for each column. Another option to make your table narrower is that you leave out a few columns.
Do you have this website online, so that we can see directly what the problem is?
