Firstly, the component is great. I must admit I bought it without doing due dilligence and i thought you could put your own query. What the component does is very nice though, but I wouldn't mind just writing my own query - this is just a suggestion for an option as opposed to all the table, field, filtering and sorting options.

Even if there was a way to define a filter in the backend, that would help immensely.

We will consider that for sure. It won't be a problem to achieve that. But first of all we are trying to make the tool very simple and intuitive, without needing to know SQL. For advanced users we have provided solution to display sql views - when creating a view you can use very complex sql statements to get whatever you want from your data.
